Nieuwe kerk Delft

Een visioenIn januari 1351 knielt een als zonderling bekend staande bedelaar neer op de Markt in Delft. Zijn naam is broeder Symon. Volgens de ‘Beschrijvinge der Stadt Delft’ uit 1667 komt een zekere Jan Col hem wat eten brengen. Hij wordt door Symon aangesproken met: “O myn uytverkooren live vriendt en siedt dy niet den Hemel open?” Beiden kijken in de lucht en zien daar, volgens de overlevering, een ‘goude Kerck’, gewijd aan Maria.

De bedelaar sterft kort daarop, maar Jan Col blijft dertig jaar lang, telkens op diezelfde januaridag, een ‘schoon licht ende klareheydt’ zien op de plek die broeder Symon heeft gewezen. Hij vindt dat er op die plaats een kerk moet komen. Wanneer twee ‘sonderlinge devote Bagynen’ het verzoek steunen en een van hen bovendien de stigmata van Christus aan het kruis vertoont, besluit het stadsbestuur ‘by consent’ op die plek een kerk te bouwen. Pas wanneer die er staat en gewijd is, verdwijnt het jaarlijkse visioen van Jan Col.

Oude kerk Delft
Hoog boven de oude binnenstad van Delft torenen de vijf karakteristieke spitsen van de Oude Kerk. Het is de oudste parochiekerk van de stad, die aanvankelijk St. Hippolytuskerk heette. De scheefgezakte toren van de Oude Kerk is niet meer de hoogste van de stad. Maar net als in de Middeleeuwen straalt zij nog steeds een markante schoonheid uit. In hun robuuste standvastigheid tonen kerk en toren de plaats van Delft in de geschiedenis.
Voor het officiële geboortejaar van de kerk wordt 1246 aangehouden, maar de geschiedenis gaat eigenlijk veel verder terug. Honderden jaren voordat graaf Willem II Delft stadsrechten verleende, gingen de bewoners van de nederzetting langs ‘de Delf’ op dezelfde plaats ter kerke. Algemeen wordt aangenomen dat in het jaar 1050 op dezelfde locatie een houten kerk heeft gestaan.

Het was Bartholomeus van der Made die halverwege de dertiende eeuw de eerste verbouwing en uitbreiding van de parochiekerk ter hand nam. Vanaf die tijd droeg de kerk aan de Oude Delft de naam van de patroonheilige van de ‘stichter’: de St. Bartholomeuskerk. De bestaande kerk van tufsteen werd uitgebreid met twee zijbeuken en een koor. Op de uitbreiding door Bartholomeus van der Made volgden in de loop der jaren nog vier bouwfasen die het uiteindelijke aanzicht zouden bepalen. Zoals de bouw van de gothische toren met de gemetselde spits en de vier zijtorentjes (1325 - 1350).

Large freely subdivisible halls, toplit and fully air-conditioned, flank both sides of the entrance to this office building. On the ground floor, the zone along the front facade is given over to conference rooms and the managerial suite. The concrete skeleton is visible in the facade as a framework with a brick and glass infill. Provision was made during construction for the later addition of a second floor, which duly arrived in 1954. The arrangement of windows on the ground floor bears no relationship to those

Berlage studied architecture under Gottfried Semper at the Zurich Institute of Technology during the 1870s after which he travelled extensively through Europe. In the 1880s he formed a Partnership in the Netherlands with Theodore Sanders which produced a mixture of practical and utopian projects. A published author, Berlage held memberships in various architectural societies including CIAM I.
Berlage was influenced by the Neo-Romanesque brickwork architecture of Henry Hobson Richardson and of the combination of structures of iron seen with brick of the Castle of the Three Geckos of Domènech i Montaner. This influence is visible in his design for the Amsterdam Commodities Exchange, for which he would also draw on the ideas of Viollet-le-Duc. The load-bearing bare brick walls and the notion of the primacy of space, and of walls as the creators of form, would be the constitutive principles of the 'Hollandse Zakelijkheid'. A visit Berlage made to the U.S. in 1911 greatly affected his architecture. From then on the organic architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright would be a significant influence. Lectures he gave when returned to Europe would help to disseminate Wright's thoughts in Germany.
Considered the "Father of Modern architecture" in the Netherlands and the intermediary between the Traditionalists and the Modernists, Berlage's theories inspired most Dutch architectural groups of the 1920s, including the Traditionalists, the Amsterdam School, De Stijl and the New Objectivists. He received the British RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 1932.
Berlage died at The Hague in 1934. In 1970, the IAU named the lunar crater Berlage after him.^[1] above.

The production process

The base material of Rockfon ceiling products is stone wool (resin bonded mineral wool) produced according to the principles of a volcanic eruption. By means of patented technology, stone is melted and transformed into wool with binders being added. In the following processes, the wool is shaped and cut according to specification and turned into ceiling tiles of various sizes, thicknesses and densities. Finally, a finishing treatment is applied giving the tiles an elegant and attractive surface finish.

The ceilings in the school support the simplicityof the school’s design.

The A.P. Møller School is a gift of the A.P. Møller and Chastine McKinney Møller Foundation of Danish shipping magnate Maersk McKinney Møller to the Danish- speaking minority of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. Danish Queen Margrethe inaugurated the school on September 1, 2008. The school is the second Danish-language school across the Danish border in Germany.
The A.P. Møller School is a Danish secondary school (7-10th grades) and a gymnasium constructed on former military land. There is room for 625 students in the 14,600–square-metre school. The three- storey building is built around two large, central spatial elements – one containing common areas with a canteen, reception hall and knowledge centre, the other with a large sports and multi-purpose hall with three arenas. The sloping roof connects these two spatial elements with yellow- brick masonry.
The building, with its slanting copper roof, is beautifully-situated in a lovely natural area with a view of Silen fjord and the copper towers of the Slesvig cathedral in the town of Schleswig.
The ceilings in the school support the simplicity of the school’s design. To add to the feeling of calm and simplicity, the architect firm C.F. Møller developed a lighting strip for the ceilings which contains both lighting and ventilation in the same band, contributing to the orderly feeling of the ceilings.
In many places, the ceilings are mounted as island solutions. The sound absorption qualities of these ceilings are excellent since the extremely stringent requirements for acoustics and sound absorption in school buildings must be met.
